Additional Information

Although I moved to Bishop’s Stortford in 1995, both my parents were raised in Hertfordshire (Wadesmill and Essendon) with my mum being born in Scott Road in Bishop’s Stortford, often recounting how WW2 impinged on her life at the time.

Beyond O-Level and A-Level qualifications I attended University of Kent at Canterbury where I achieved a BSc honours degree in Physics and Management Sciences.  This degree enabled me to enter the technology profession working in the city at a time when an entire business may have been considered “advanced” to have a single PC – in the days before MSWindows and when the internet was not really available for business and domestic use.

After spending the next 35 years working in London, becoming a Partner for an IT consulting firm, I left and set up a small online business selling Goblins!

During those many years, my children were born, educated and left home (one returning later) both living in the areas – and where I have been periodically involved as most people in various clubs societies etc such as becoming a scout pack leader, part of the Bishop’s Stortford Round Table and entering the political arena (which ultimately led to becoming a Councillor).

Besides these activities, I have recently taken up cycling, as walking long distances such as the Pennine way and Ridgeway (both lovely walks) are no longer possible due to health issues with my wife.  We have enjoyed many walking holidays at least once per year and mostly twice.  In future we hope to cycle, well, more specifically, tricycle (or even more specifically e-trike) around Norfolk and Suffolk, camping along the way.

In recent years I have been involved in helping a close family relationship undertake “harvesting” of hay and straw (for farm animals), driving a tractor in picking up and stacking straw bales and then feeding farm animals and collecting hen’s eggs.
