Decision details

Commissioning of volunteer training for Energy Hubs through Energy Saving Trust E-Learning

Decision Maker: Head of Housing and Health

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Purpose:

Approve contract to license volunteer E-learning training as provided by the Energy Saving Trust. This will be offered to current and prospective volunteers as part of the Energy Hub initiative operating across the district, providing volunteers with essential knowledge to allow them to engage with people about energy saving in their homes.

Decision:

Approve contract to license volunteer E-learning training provided by the Energy Saving Trust at a cost of £2,600 funded from the council's allocation of UK Shared Prosperity Fund monies.

Alternative options considered:

Option 1 - Training by the Centre for Sustainable Energy only runs every three months, not always online - NOT RECOMMENDED.
Option 2 - Training by the Yorkshire Energy Doctor requires 3 sessions of 1.5 hours over 3 weeks, too great of a commitment to see follow through - NOT RECOMMENDED.
Option 3 - Training by Energy Saving Trust. Multiple platforms were assessed, with this option providing the most targeted training for our needs, while allowing volunteers the flexibility to complete training in their own time. The Energy Saving Trust is also a well respected and trusted organisation, which solidifies the validity of the information - RECOMMENDED.
